The Hong Kong Family Law Association is heartbroken by the recent fire tragedy at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po and extends its deepest condolences to every family and individual who has lost a loved one, been injured or displaced by this disaster.
This is an unimaginable loss for Hong Kong, and the thoughts of all our members are with those who are grieving and those who are still waiting for news of their loved ones.
In this time of sorrow, HKFLA stands in solidarity with the people of Hong Kong as the city mourns together and supports one another through collective grief. Our members of the family law community share the pain felt across our society and are committed to doing what we can within our professional roles, to promote care, stability, and protection for affected families and children.
HKFLA pays heartfelt tribute to the emergency responders, medical teams, social workers, community groups, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly and compassionately in the face of overwhelming loss. Their courage and dedication have brought comfort and dignity to many during these dark times.
As Hong Kong observes moments of silence, HKFLA reaffirms that no one should have to face this tragedy alone. HKFLA encourages all who are struggling to reach out for support and calls on the wider community to continue to show empathy, patience and kindness to those who are suffering in the weeks and months ahead.
